Events as below will occur in the Season of Creation 2025 and thereafter. The Season of Creation is a time of ecumenical celebration of creation that runs each year from 1-Sep to 4-Oct. The theme from 2025 is Peace with Creation. All are welcome to these events.
At 2-3pm on Saturday 13-September 2025 Belconnen South parish welcomes all to join in the Way of Creation at St Matthews Church (on the corner of Belconnen Way and Chewings Street, Page). This is a service to pray the creation story in Genesis, alongside praise for the story of the cosmos as revealed through our scientific understandings. Light refreshment will follow and parking is available off Stutchbury Street. Please extend the invitation to your faith community through the poster/event flyer attached below.
Planning is also underway to celebrate the Season of Creation at
1-4pm Saturday 20-September 2025 there will be Magnificat Voices in Spring in the Chambers Pavilion at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, 15 Blackall Street in Barton. This is a time of shared spiritual conversations and prayer accompanied by Magnificat wisdom and reflection on Marian integral ecology. At 9.30am on Sunday 21 September, St Margaret’s Uniting and Holy Cross Anglican will convene their annual prayer service “under the cherry tree” (photo below) in their quadrangle at the “holy roundabout” on the corner of Antill St and Phillip Ave, Hackett and with participation of the Blackfriars Parish (Holy Rosary).
Prayer service at Queanbeyan – There will also be an ecumenical prayer service marking the ending of the Season of Creation at 12 midday (followed by some lunch) on Saturday 4 October with participation by multiple Christian faith communities. This will be outdoors (if weather allows) at St Gregory's school at 15 McQuoid Street QUEANBEYAN.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Papal encyclical on the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on 1-September 2025, the global Laudato Si' movement is convening a Raising Hope conference 1-3 September in Rome with on-line streaming of some sessions available for registrants at https://raisinghope.earth/conference/ .
